If you've ever wrestled with a sewing machine trying to stitch over a thick seam, only to end up with uneven stitches, a skipped row, or a snapped needle; the bulky seam aid is about to become your new best friend!
Also known as a seam jumper or hump jumper, this small but mighty tool solves one of the most common frustrations in sewing with heavy or layered fabrics such as denim, canvas, or leather. When your presser foot tips forward or back over a thick seam, it loses contact with the fabric and causes all kinds of problems. The bulky seam aid simply slots under the back of the presser foot to keep it level, allowing your machine to feed the fabric evenly and stitch smoothly right over the bump - every time.
It works with all sewing machines and comes with two widths to accommodate different fabric thicknesses, so whether you're crossing a single seam or navigating multiple layers, you'll have the right size to hand. It's also surprisingly handy for sewing on buttons, where it can be used to create a neat thread shank.
