Plain Silk Habotai Fabric - White

An ultra-fine 100% silk habotai fabric in clean, simple white. Lightweight and beautifully smooth, this silk has a soft, fluid drape with a gentle natural sheen, giving it an elegant, floating quality. Semi-opaque rather than sheer, it offers light coverage while remaining airy and delicate.

Silk habotai is traditionally prized for its versatility and handle. The smooth surface and absorbent fibres make it ideal for silk painting, dyeing, batik and hand-applied colour, while its softness and drape lend themselves perfectly to lingerie, scarves, summer blouses, lightweight dresses, and garment linings. The plain white base makes this fabric especially well suited to custom dye work and painted designs.

Despite its fine weight, habotai silk is surprisingly durable as well as being breathable, and comfortable against the skin. When sewing, its lightness benefits from careful handling and fine needles to achieve the best finish.
