The Harlene Dungarees from Merchant and Mills are a traditional pair of workwear dungarees. Easy fitting and comfortable to wear, this wardrobe staple includes all the classic detailing, with the optional top stitching giving you a great opportunity to practise and level-up your skills.

Skill level: Intermediate

Fabric suggestions: Medium-weight, woven fabrics; denims, cotton canvas, cotton drill, linens. Top tip! If you've opted for a thicker fabric, you may want to cut the waistband and button fly pieces from a thinner fabric, this will reduce bulky seams which could prove tricky to sew.

You will need: Matching thread; contrasting top stitch thread (optional); two 40 mm dungaree clips; two 40 mm adjustable sliders; six hammer-on buttons (or sew-on buttons); 0.5 m of lining fabric for pocket, fly and waist facing. If your fabric is light to medium weight, you could use ‘self’ fabric for the fly and waist facing.
